Univers Emissary: The Store Where a Customer's Assistant Is Trusted

Univers Emissary lets a customer's AI assistant act for them inside a V-Commerce store, on the customer's word and the house's rules, and never beyond either. Every behaviour described has been demonstrated on a live store.

**Univers Emissary lets a customer's AI assistant act for them inside a Univers V-Commerce store, on the customer's word and the house's rules, and never beyond either.**

An action happens only when both permit it, and the narrower of the two always wins. As of 24 September 2026, every behaviour described below has been demonstrated on a live deployment.

Univers is Europe's sovereign intelligence group. V-Commerce, invented by its founder Ahmed F.M. Hamdan, is its best-proven work: stores that exist as places, not pages. Emissary is what happens when a customer stops visiting those places alone and starts sending an assistant.

Customers are starting to send assistants

People now ask an assistant to find something, compare it and set it aside. Most stores have so far answered in one of two ways: close the door to assistants, or open it without conditions. Neither suits a house that has spent generations deciding how it receives people. Emissary offers a third way: the assistant is welcome, on terms two people set, the customer and the house.

Two halves, and the narrower one wins

Every permission in a Univers store has two halves: what the house allows, and what the customer allowed.

What that meant on the live store:

- **The customer decides exactly what the assistant may do.** They leave one thing unticked, and the assistant does not receive it. - **The house has the final word, even at the moment of consent.** A customer ticked three things. The assistant received two, because the house had ruled out the third. The house's rule applied before the assistant ever reached the door. - **The house can change its mind, and the change lands immediately.** The house narrowed one thing, and four minutes later the same assistant, in the same session, was refused that thing. Everything else it had been allowed carried on working. - **Refusals are polite and precise.** If the customer never allowed something, the assistant is told so and shown how to ask them properly. If the house forbids it, the assistant is told that too, and is not sent to bother the customer, because asking would change nothing. - **Withdrawal takes effect immediately.** When a customer ends a permission, an assistant partway through a task is stopped, and cannot quietly renew itself. - **An approval the assistant does not collect within a minute expires,** and the customer simply approves again. - **A house can turn away an assistant that has identified itself,** and doing so ends every permission it holds, for every customer, at once. - **One customer's basket cannot be asked for by anyone else.** There is no way to ask for it. A basket comes from the permission, not from the request.

What the house sees

Emissary gives the house a full account of the channel: which assistants came, how each got in, what each did, and for whom. Every refusal carries its reason. The rules are the house's; Emissary shows the house how they were kept.

The house's own answer, not a guess

As of 25 September 2026, a house can state what a piece is for, and an assistant can ask. At The Kings, Univers' own store, a person named an occasion and wrote what suits it. An assistant asked the store about that occasion and received the house's own answer. Nothing was composed or inferred. A Univers store answers with what its house actually said, and says nothing where it has said nothing.

What we deliberately do not allow

- **No assistant completes a purchase.** The customer is returned to the store's own checkout to pay. - **No assistant reads or uses payment details.** There is nothing it could be given. - **No assistant reads a customer's saved addresses back out.** - **A house's own words are not lent to machines unless the house switches that on.** It is off by default.

Found at the store's own address

There is nothing to install. Any store speaking the Univers V-Commerce Protocol is reachable by any assistant that speaks UCP, the open standard assistants already follow, with no configuration and no listing, because it is found at the store's own address.

UVCP is published, versioned and dated at vcommerce.univershq.com. Published, so anyone may read and implement it. Owned, because the standard's own rule binds a capability's schema to the domain that owns its name, and ours is `com.univershq`. We own the name, the definition and the version line. Anyone may speak it; nobody may redefine it.

Why assistants will prefer it

There are millions of online shops, and an assistant has to crawl each of them and guess. A store it can simply ask, which answers with what its house actually stated, is cheaper and better for the assistant. That is a reason to prefer V-Commerce that has nothing to do with us.
